Sailing Through Guineas

When Dallas hired Mikah Tully, he already had substantial experience in training race horses. This gave him a good foundation of which she could build him up from. Then it was only a few weeks, and Dallas had fine tuned his skills to better match her racing program. Feeling comfortable enough, Dallas left Mikah in charge of White Blood Stables racing department, and left for Blacktyde Stables with Candi and Abhijat. Though she would be missing out on Sails big day, it was a much needed break from the over lode of work on her plate. With her leave, she could focus on some of the more green horses and getting them started while Mikah picked up the slack back home- given supplemented help as needed from the seasoned jockeys. After Dallas left, Mikah continued the regular schedules for the horses and concluded Sail's preparation for the 2017 TS 2000 Guineas Stakes. In Abhijats absence, Alano Rodriguez was the decided jockey for the 3 year old filly. Sail was a perfect blend of her sire BTs Blackbeard Got Some Ink and her dam WBS Ghost Hour, the most famous flat racing stallion and mare of their time- and til this day. Sail and her twin brother Dutchie were born for greatness, and thus far Sail had proven herself through her undefeated racing record- following in her half big brother Fellies hooves. Though not yet as well known on the track as Fellie, Sail had been followed by the public eye since her birth, and was beginning to make quite the name for herself.. something that the WBS staff intended to continue. Mikah and Alano arrived with Sail a couple days before the race to settle the filly and acclimate her to the English track. They began by walking her through the grounds so she could get used to the visuals and smells before she settled into her stall. The vet gave her a thumbs up after a physical, and she settled for the night. The next day began early with feeding then a morning workout, followed by the hot walkers. After being stalled for a while she was again walked around the premises and got to stretch her legs while enjoying the new surroundings. When she was set back in her stall for the rest of the day, Mikah and Alano researched the competition and discussed how they'd run Sail the next day. After a good nights rest, race day was upon them. When it was time to prepare for the race, everything went on without a hitch. Sail was a bit excitable, feeding off of the energy buzzing from the scene, but she went through everything willingly. Mikah gave Alano a few last instructions then the last call for bets sounded and the horses were finally being led out to the track. Sail was registered for the second post, inside the perfect zone for her, thankfully (though in a straight race, post position didn't offer any perks). She hesitated from the gate at first, but after she was circled around once she walked right in, and the gate was locked behind her. They were good to go.
