Antichrists Maiden

Beelz is off to her first race!

Dallas Jackson watched the mare from a distance, her finger lightly brushing over her lower lip in a horizontal motion. WBS The Antichrist was throwing a fit as the stable hands attempted to tack her up, struggling as the mare moved to and fro. The mares jockey Mike Buckley walked over to Dallas, fully dressed in his silks, goggles pulled over his helmet. Mike had a grin on his face from ear to ear, "This is going to be fun, look at how much fire she has!" Dallas cleared her throat, "I'm just glad that we have one insane jockey on staff willing to handle the unruly ones.."
Dallas had hired Mike Buckley as Beelz's jockey almost reluctantly, however. He was the owner of the only horse he rode, WBS Questioning Faith, and until Beelz showed up, Faith was the most aggressive race horse they'd had. Though Faith and Beelz shared an unattractive temperment, Beelz was outright dangerous. And Dallas had worried about using Mike as her jockey because she wanted Beelz to get over her aggressive habits and train towards focusing on the race. Luckily, Dallas had made sure that Beelz would be wearing blinkers, whereas Mike never went out of his way to give his ill tempered mare blinkers. So Dallas hoped that the blinkers would keep the young filly focused, and in turn, keep Mikes head in the game. Mike had a bad habit of his own, as he allowed his mare Faith to act out and took racing as more of a sprinting game than a serious competition. Because of this, Mikes track record as a jockey had been filled with it's fair share of wins and looses. Though Mike wasn't Dallas's first choice for Beelz's jockey, he was the only one that was insane enough to accept the offer. "Thank you again for riding Beelz today, you saved her from scratching her first race."
"Not a problem, boss. You know how I like the feisty fillies," Mike chuckled and watched as the handlers motioned for him. He approached the mare and mounted. Beelz shot straight into the air, screaming, and when she returned to earth, the handlers secured her. Dallas approached the mare, looking up to Mike and walking alongside him and the mare as she was led forward, "Keep your head in the game, Mike. The field today is filled with other new racers, so we don't really know what to expect. However, I want you to keep a close eye on post 3- LR Emergency Code- he is Rosendal bred. His sire is RDS Mayday Mayday son of RDS Nonpareil. And we both know that WBS Ghost Hour's grand dam was also RDS Nonpareil.. so this colt may have some mighty fight to him. Mayday liked to hold up in the back most of the race saving energy, so if this colt is anything like his daddy, just keep an eye out and be sure to check on your surroundings throughout the race. Keep Beelz at an even pace.. she likes to Stalk, so just ease her up under whoever the Front Runner is until you feel she's ready to-" At that moment Beelz shot up in the air again, screaming and landing only to rear up on her hinds before taking off in a high-headed canter. Mike clung to her neck and sat his seat, regaining the reigns and easing the filly up with a sheepish smile.
Dallas stood in her tracks looking after the young jockey and feisty mare, "And dear god, don't get yourself killed!" Sighing, Dallas made her way to the outer ring of the track, mumbling to herself, "That boys going to get himself killed and he's going to be grinning the whole time, little idiot."
